TWO goals from Tom Garwood and a towering defensive performance from Matthew Rowles were key to Clifton Rangers under 12s' 3-1 victory at Hepworth.
After a poor pass back, Clifton keeper Clayton Smith brought down the home centre forward in the box only to make amends with a tremendous save to his right.
But just before half time a mix up in the Rangers defence let Hepworth through to make it
1-0.
Rangers took control after the break and Garwood turned on the edge of the area before hitting an unstoppable shot to make it 1-1.
After a great run by Ben Lock, Garwood found himself in space in the Hepworth half and again he hit an unstoppable shot to give Clifton the lead.
An Ioannou header went just over the bar before skipper George Gray lobbed the keeper to give Clifton a well deserved victory.
HAFC continued their good start with a 6-1 victory over Skelmanthorpe.
The deadlock was broken when a George Smith shot was dropped by the keeper and the ball tricked over the line. The lead was doubled when a shot from Smith went beneath the keeper.
Angus Maney struck the bar with a free kick but Skelmanthorpe had chances and a good save from Matthew Berry was followed up by a good block from Matthew Davies before Angus Maney made it 3-0.
Maney grabbed his second goal and then a further two from Smith saw the game safe.
Brighouse suffered an 8-0 defeat at the hands of visitors YMCA in Division One.
Brighouse newboy Jake Stewart almost created an opening for the home side with a great pass to Daniel Siggins who shot just wide.
And a superb tackle from captain Louis Barker prevented worse.
Greetland Goldstars led their Belgrave League clash with Todmorden Borough three times but still slipped to a 4-3 defeat.
Greetland scored against the run of play when a clearance downfield by keeper Ginanluca De Vito was collected by Luke Whitworth and he fed Jake Marshall who shot past the Todmorden keeper but the lead lasted less than three minutes.
Greetland went back in front but again the lead was short-lived.
Greetland were ahead aagin just before half-time when a shot from Thomas Hales was deflected past the keeper.
Todmorden were back on terms early in the second half before De Vito guessed correctly to push a penalty kick round the post and Tod won it with a late goal.
Crossley Swifts emerged 4-2 winners over HAFC.
HAFC broke the deadlock through Euan Wilson-Baig but Crossleys equalised through Max Halsworth.
Crossley pushed their noses in front when Halsworth fired home through a crowded penalty area and HAFC drew level with Reece Anderson getting on the end of a fine flowing move.
The second half was as relentless as the first and Crossleys restored their lead when a Tom Garling clearance found Lewis Lynch.
