HAFC's under 11s 'B' team won the Westend FC football tournament at Huddersfield New College.
The under 11s had two teams in separate competitions and both did extremely well.
Both teams' first games were against Glen Juniors, with 'A' team keeper Matthew Berry making two fine saves to keep the score at 0-0 while the 'B' team got off to th
e perfect start winning 1-0 with Henry Downing scoring the goal after good build up play by Matthew Davies and Alex Wilson.
Both teams then won their second match 1-0 against Dewsbury Rangers, with Angus Maney scoring for the first team after a great cross by James O'Callaghan and Callum O'Toole scoring for the 'B' team.
After a 1-0 win over the Collegians for the 'A' team, thanks to a Marcus Reynolds goal, the second team drew 0-0. But in the fourth game, both teams turned on the style with Lewis Brierley scoring twice for the 'A' team, while Tom Mullin and a double from Wilson gave the 'B' team a comfortable 3-0 win over Westend.
Both teams won their fifth match with Reynolds scoring again for the first team and O'Toole and Alex Shaw setting each other up for the second team against Rastrick.
The 'B' team finished second after consecutive 0-0 draws against Westend and Linthwaite while the 'A' team finished top after Brierley scored two winning goals in successive games against Hepton and Linthwaite.
At the end of the group stages neither side had conceded a goal, thanks to Joe Pinder in the 'A' team and Declan Moran, Cameron Speak and Mullin in the 'B' team.
With both teams in the quarter finals, the 'A' team were the first to play. After O'Callaghan and Brierley had shots saved by Linthwaite's keeper, it was Bradley Allen who found the net with a bullet header.
The 'B' team found it tough going against Collegians and the game went to penalties. Keeper Chandler Hallwood saved two spot kicks as his team ran out 4-3 winners.
The first team suffered heartbreak against Hepton in the semi-finals, losing 1-0 with Reynolds rattling the post in the final seconds.
However, their colleagues did them proud, beating Glen Juniors 3-0 to progress to their final thanks to goals from Downing, O'Toole and Davies.
In the final, they played a strong Linthwaite side, but thanks to a wonder strike from Downing and last ditch defending, they emerged 1-0 winners.
