HALIFAX Girls under 12 hockey team have secured promotion for when the next round of matches commence in November after winning four of their five matches in the latest round of fixtures.
A tremendous morning's action saw the team lose in the final seconds of their last game against unbeaten Leeds Adel.
Lucy Hollingdrake scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Ben Rhydding and the same player also made the difference in a 1-0 win over Driffield.
Ellen Campsall was on the scoresheet twice and Phillipa Wilksinon also found the net as Leeds were turned over 3-0 after which Halifax secured a 2-0 win over Kirklees with Campsall and Hollindrake on target.
The young and inexperienced B' team played their first round of matches at Park Lane High.
The morning proved to be a learning experience for the team against more experienced opposition and the results did not reflect the effort and skill of the players despite having to play without a goalkeeper.
Four of the five matches were lost with the remaining game a fine 3-0 win over Huddersfield.
Rebecca Kendal produced some encouraging performances as the main striker, scoring an excellent goal against Huddersfield and setting up another for livewire Grace Ramsden, who added a second to go with an early strike in a defeat by a strong Wakefield side.
