OLD Brods under 16s entertained Barnsley and progressed to the second round of the Yorkshire Cup following an emphatic 66-5 win at Woodhead.
Second row forward James Brambles inspired Brods with his charging runs and domination of the line out.

As a result of one of Brambles' early forays, Adam Dixon touched down in the corner.

Barnsley were awarded a penalty kick deep inside their own half and kicked for touch. Unfortunately they failed to launch the ball far enough up field and Brods' superiority in the line out allowed them to win back the ball and quickly move it out to last year's top try scorer Chris Vine to score the first of a hat trick of tries. Danny Wood converted to open up a 12-0 lead.

Barnsley hit back with a try following an infringement by a Brods player, but these were the last points the visitors posted as Brods dominated the play.

Adam Dixon went in for his second try, quickly followed by Danny Wood following sterling work by Perry Wilson when collecting the ball deep inside his own 22.

Holding a 26 -5 lead at half time, Brods extended their advantage when Amir Nasir broke upfield. Gareth Moger continued the move and Zak Ward dropped over the line.

Chris Vine added another score with a fine individual run from the halfway line and after coach Gary Wilson made a number of changes, replacement Conor Martin added to the score with a tremendous run down the left wing.

Adam Dixon scored his third and the other try scorer was No 8 Greig Robertson while Wood converted eight of his 10 attempts.

HEATH under 14s began their home campaign in style with an emphatic 74-0 win, under floodlights, over Doncaster.

The visitors kicked off, but a good take by Jack Sheldrake settled the forwards before Ezra Hinchliffe cleared to touch.

From the resulting lineout, the ball was moved swiftly down the back line for Nick Rodgers to grab his first score of the evening.

Heath were dominant with captain Steven Hare picking up from a scrum and powering over. Sam Pollard converted to make it 12-0 after just a few minutes of play.

Heath swept straight back upfield from the restart, Kyle Lister scoring out wide after which Pollard put up a 'bomb' which Luke Matthews claimed and scored, Hinchcliffe converting.

Two more tries for Heath from Rodgers and Francis Lake made it 36-0, before Rodgers picked up his third score of the evening to make it 41-0 at half time.

The second half carried on as the first left off. Back row forward Sheldrake broke from halfway to score between the posts and this was quickly followed up by two more scores.

Half time replacement Richard Brambles picking up the first from a good solo effort, and Rodgers grabbed his fourth out wide.
