OLD Rishworthians under 16s made the long journey to Driffield for their inaugural Yorkshire Cup game in buoyant mood and their confidence was well-placed as they returned with a 19-10 win.
It took the first half to get the journey out of their system and Driffield's quick backs took advantage to take a half time lead.

But the second half saw Rishworthians rally and score 19 unanswered points to claim the tie.

Pinned back in their own half Rishworthians defended well as Driffield pressurised looking to get early points on the board.

With just over five minutes gone Driffield took the lead with an unconverted try wide out.

Driffield extened their lead with their forwards turning over Rishworthians possession and feeding their backs to score a well worked unconverted try and go into the break with a 10 point lead.

Rishworthians started the second half in a more determined mood and a series of forward drives paid dividends as Tom Maguire picked up from the base of a ruck to power over.

Further pressure was rewarded as they took the lead from a well worked try. From a scrum, David Hudson fed stand off Matthew Hunt-Brown who dummied his opposite number and fed Connor Birkett to score under the posts.

Matthew Cook added a simple conversion.

Rishworthians were now in the ascendancy and from turnover ball, scrum half Hudson drew his man and fed man of the match Hunt-Brown who jinked through a gap in the Driffield back line and sprinted 25 metres for the line, Cook adding the conversion.
