HALIFAX under 16s fought out a 6-6 draw with Wakefield & District League leaders Castleford A.
Castleford A have only lost once in three years and had already beaten Halifax this season 17-3.

Halifax started the match with two 13-year-olds, Nicholas Truelove and Sam Sharma, making their debuts.

Castleford made their intentions known by a
ttacking from every angle, forcing keeper Robert Shaw into making some great saves and defenders Jonathon Bentley, Thomas Bailey and Lydia Murray into getting some vital blocks in.

The pressure finally told with goals from Peat, Thompson and Morris giving them a 3-0 lead.

However, just before the end of the first quarter Halifax hit back with a good goal from Josh Berry after good work from Harvey Chadwick.

The second quarter was a complete turnaround, with Halifax putting Castleford on the back foot.

Anna Sutcliffe and Luke Franks started to get wide down the wings and it was their combination of passing which led to captain James Chadwick scoring with a fine shot in to the top corner to make it 3-2 in Castleford's favour at the end of the second quarter.

Early in the third quarter the match seemed to tilt Castleford's way as they scored twice through Peat who claimed his hat trick.

Halifax scored after Josh Berry had taken the defender with him. An excellent pass from James Chadwick found Luke Franks in space and he made no mistake from 10 yards to make the score 5-3.

Halifax still had a lot to do but two quick goals from James Chadwick and Luke Franks set up an entertaining last five minutes.

Both sides could have won the game but for some great saves by J. Craven in goal for Castleford and Shaw for Halifax.
