Leeds manager Gary McAllister believes his side are on course for automatic promotion after taking their tally to 20 points from 10 matches.
Jermaine Beckford scored twice in their 3-1 defeat of Brighton after strike partner Lucian Becchio had broken the Seagulls' resistance, but it was teenage midfielder Fabian Delph who caught the eye with another virtuoso performance in midfield.
McAl
lister said: "20 points from 10 games is not bad. If you average that to the end of the season you have a good chance, but 20 out of 30 means we've dropped 10.
"Fabian Delph has come through our academy and is an exciting talent as well as being very competitive.
"He is a natural footballer and it is good that he is learning his trade here, away from the microscope of the Premier League.
"I don't want to tempt fate by putting too much pressure on the kid. He has lots of time on his side."
Leeds moved up a place to third with a 3-1 win over Brighton.
Luciano Becchio volleyed Leeds in front a minute before the break and Jermaine Beckford added two more (45 and 90).
Glenn Murray managed an injury-time consolation for the Seagulls.
Bradford-born Delph also drew praise from teammate Andrew Hughes.
He said: "I don't want to say too much because I do not want to lose him as a team-mate... but he is the best young player I have ever seen.
"I have been lucky to play with some very good players but Fab bewilders me.
"I spotted him as soon as I arrived at the club and I was not surprised by how well Fab played against Robbie Savage because I see him every day in training."

Oldham moved up to third place in league One - and maintained their their unbeaten home record - by hammering bottom-placed Hereford 4-0 yesterday.
