POLICE have released a description of a man they want to speak to in connection with a knife attack on three men.

They were attacked in the early hours of Saturday in Sowerby Bridge.

The victims, aged 22, 20 and 18, all suffered facial wounds and the youngest two were taken by ambulance to Calderdale Royal Hospital for treatment.

The attack happened at a
bout 2.30am by the railway bridge at the end of Wharf Street, Sowerby Bridge.

Two officers were already on the scene dealing with another unrelated incident when the attack happened.

One man was chased from the scene by PC Andrew Bingham and arrested after fleeing down nearby Hollins Mill Lane.

He has not been charged. Billy Potter, the owner of Bridges Bar, near the scene of the attack, said the people involved had not been to his bar that night.

He said: "I saw the flashing lights of a police car and went outside but the people hurt had already been taken away.

"It is a surprise. There has not been any trouble around here for a long time."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault and want to speak to a man who is described as white, with dark hair and wearing a white tee-shirt with writing on the front.

Anyone with information should contact PC 5901 Emma Cheshire at Halifax CID on 01422 337085 or CrimeStoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
