THIS is the girl who will be the toast of Mytholmroyd Gala after she was picked to be this year's queen.
The Calder High School student Kate Salter, 15, (pictured right) will take part in the opening ceremony, ride in the procession and meet dignitaries as part of her official duties.

She will be attended by two helpers and a cushion bearer.

Kate, who plays trombone with Hebden Bridge Senior Band and Sellers International Youth Band, said: "I feel privileged to have been selected by the gala committee for this year's gala queen.

"Galas are a great way of bringing the community together and I am proud to be a part of it. I am also keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine."

The gala takes place at Burnley Road Junior, Infant and Nursery School playing fields on July 12.
