A grammar school is reaching out to the local community with an art link-up.
The art outreach programme will see staff from Hipperholme Grammar School working with five neighbouring primary schools for an afternoon every week.
The scheme is being lead by Andy Fyfe, the head of art, who was involved with a similar format a
t his previous school in London.
Mr Fyfe will share Hipperholme's skills and resources with art teachers at St John's Primary Clifton, Warley Town Junior and Infants School, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Sowerby Bridge, Christ Church Primary School, Pellon, and Triangle Primary School.
He said: "I will be working with teachers and pupils for a six-week period in each of the schools, all of which have identified areas of skills shortage such as 3D modelling or print making.
"It's a great way for the school to become more involved with the local community, and is really exciting for me as I get to work and share my skills with a wider circle of pupils."
John Scarth, head teacher at the school, said: "This is a really inventive way to reach out to the local school community and ultimately we are all striving to deliver first-class education.
"Full marks must also go to Mr Fyfe for suggesting the initial idea, and for becoming closely involved with our neighbours."
