TEENAGERS are getting a taste of university at a residential summer school.
Year 11 pupils from three Calderdale schools – Brooksbank at Elland, Halifax High and Calder High, Mytholmroyd – are among 70 attending workshops and activities at Bradford University.
They will have a mixture of social events and academic-related workshops. Subjects will include archaeology, optometry, environmental science, law, pharmacy and media.
Some will stay in the university's halls of residence.
Anwar Ayub, the Higher Education Summer School co-ordinator, said: "The programme is targeted at pupils from families who may not normally apply to university.
"It aims to give them a first-hand experience of life in higher education and will hopefully inspire and encourage them to apply later in life."
