Johal Brothers can make Halifax shop bigger

Plans to expand a Halifax corner shop have been approved.

Permission for a single storey side extension to the Johal Brothers store on Wheatley Lane in Lee Mount has been granted by Calderdale Council.

According to the planning bid, the request was made so that retail space and storage at the premises can be increased.

The planning officer’s report said no change of use for the site is proposed.

"The property operates as a local shop within a predominantly residential area and occupies a corner position fronting Wheatley Lane,” said the report.

"The site is surrounded principally by residential development and forms part of the established local neighbourhood centre serving the surrounding community.”

No objections were raised to the proposal.
